    Nominee Access

A name you trust. For the messages that outlive you.

A Nominee is one trusted person you choose — at the start — to carry your vault forward if you're no longer here to do it yourself. Not your lawyer. Not the legal system. Someone who already knew you.

    The Concept

One trusted person. Named at the start.

A Nominee is one person you designate when you set up your account. They can be a partner, an adult child, a sibling, a close friend. They become important only if the day comes when you're no longer here.

A Nominee is not a will.

A Nominee is not a beneficiary.

A Nominee is the person who can open your vault — not anything else.

A Nominee is named by you. They don't need to accept the role for it to be in place.

    Setting Up Your Nominee

    It takes about three minutes.

    01

    You choose them

Go to your account settings. Add their name and email. That's all we need — there's no separate verification step at setup. The designation is yours to make.

    02

You decide whether to tell them

You can let your Nominee know they've been named — we'll send them a calm, optional notification if you choose. Or you can keep it private until the day arrives. Either way is valid. Some people find it meaningful to share; others would rather not. Your choice.

    03

    You go on living

Your Nominee plays no role in your day-to-day. They don't see your messages. They don't have access to anything. They're simply on file — for if and when the day comes.

    Available on the Evergreen plan.

    When The Time Comes

How we know. How we verify. What unlocks.

    How we're informed

We don't scan obituaries. We don't watch social media. Your Nominee tells us. They reach out — by email, or by submitting our access request — and the process begins from there. This is deliberate: we never act on automated assumptions about something as serious as a person's passing.

    How we verify

We ask your Nominee for proof at the time of the request: a death certificate, their government ID, and a short statement of their relationship to you. Our team — real people, not algorithms — reviews each request carefully. We may ask follow-up questions. We aim to respond within 5 business days.

    What unlocks

Once verified, your Nominee receives a private, time-limited link to your vault. They can view and download every message you stored. They cannot modify or delete anything. Scheduled deliveries that were already in motion continue as you set them, provided the account was active at the time of unlock. Your vault remains yours — your Nominee simply becomes the one trusted to carry it forward.

    A Note On Privacy

    Even your Nominee has limits.

The vault opens to be read — not to be edited.

    Your Nominee can

    • View every message you stored
    • Download copies for safekeeping
    • See who each message was intended for
    • Receive scheduled future deliveries you set, on the dates you set

    Your Nominee cannot

    • Delete or change any message
    • Re-record on your behalf
    • Change recipients
    • Add or remove other Nominees
    • Send new messages from your account
